GCSE Results: Further Analysis
We are very proud of our GCSE results, which we announced yesterday morning: you can see them here. This is an analysis of the trends across the Federation. When 2013 national trends become available, we will add to this analysis.
With 2,050 Year 11 students, 2013 was our largest cohort ever. The data shows that our performance has continued to improve as we have grown.
91.5% of students at Harris Academies achieved 5A* - C grades in any subject (the 2012 national average was 82%).
72% of students at Harris Academies achieved 5A* - Cs including English and maths. This is 18 percentage points higher than the 2012 national average (the most recent available) of 53%.
We are particularly pleased that children on Free School Meals and Looked After Children at Harris Academies achieve equally high standards. This year, 69% achieved at least five 5A* - Cs including English and maths. As well as outperforming the national average compared to other students on Free School Means and Looked After Children, they are outperforming the national average for Year 11 students as a whole.
Without equivalents included, 60% of Harris students achieved at least 5 good GCSEs including English and maths. This is up from 58% last summer and considerably higher than the national average (50.9% in 2002).
18% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate, up from 8.8% in 2012.
The data also shows that Harris students make significant progress over the course of their education:
- In Maths, 80% of students made the 3 levels of progress expected by the government (in 2012 the national average was 69%). In English 77% of students made 3 levels of progress (national average was 68% in 2012)
- Many students outpaced the progress expected by government. 47% of students made four levels of progress in Maths and 39% in English.
Once again, many congratulations to our students. We look forward to reporting on your achievements again in two years’ time when you finish Sixth Form.
