Great parent session with GamCare this evening looking at the complexities of gaming and gambling for our young people. One parent said “really appreciate you offering this session: makes it easier for us parents navigating the complexity of these matters”

Library

There are two libraries at Harris Academy Tottenham, one for our Primary pupils, and one to support our Secondary cohort.

Primary

Primary Library 2Our small but growing Primary library currently houses around 2,000 fiction books, ranging from easy picture books to challenging Children’s Classics, and including favourites from Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, David Walliams and many more!

We also have a selection of around 1,000 non-fiction books chosen to support the curriculum; these are arranged thematically in the library so that pupils can easily locate areas of interest.

Classes are usually brought to the library once a week, during which time pupils have a chance to browse through the books and find something they would like to borrow.

Reading at home

There’s still plenty to read, even when the school site is closed. There are a number of resources available via the library website, which you can access below:

Please click on the Primary icon (pictured below) once you have logged in, and this will take you to the Primary school section of the website:

Sec

Here you will find a selection of E-Books and audiobooks which can be accessed online for free. Where further login details are needed to read these books, you will find these in the book description.

There are also currently a number of free books available upon request – please see ‘Free Books’ on the website, and follow the instructions. These books are limited in number, so if you would like to claim one, put your request in quickly!

Secondary

Secondary LibraryOur Secondary library provides a calm, quiet working space, which students can use before school, during break and lunch times, and after school from Monday-Thursday.

It carries a range of fiction and non-fiction resources to support the curriculum and promote reading for pleasure, and is constantly expanding and developing.

Remote library service

While the school is operating under the ‘Pod’ system, the library space has been reserved for Sixth Form use.

Students in other year groups have been encouraged to use the library website to request books instead, which are then delivered to classroom ‘Library boxes’ for distribution by form tutors.

Reading at home

The library website provides a range of resources to use from home:
