GCSE results 2023-24

We are delighted that the summer results place us as the second highest academy in Haringey for progress 8 (the government’s measure of school performance that records how much improvement students make during their secondary education). Almost a third of all grades awarded to our students were higher than a grade 7 (an A grade). The academy’s GCSE results gave us a progress 8 score of +0.66 which means that the children at HATO achieved 2/3 of a grade higher, in every subject, than the national average. The table below summarises some of our headline figures that we are incredibly proud of:

We are immensely proud of our students and their incredible achievements in this year’s GCSE examinations. Among the standout performers are Jingtong, who earned an outstanding ten grade 9s, and Nadia, who achieved an exceptional 13 GCSEs, all at grades 8-9. Other remarkable successes include Hannah-Jane, who achieved six grade 9s and four grade 8s; Astha, with an impressive ten grades at 8-9; Luana, who secured five grade 9s and four grade 8s; and Jin-Xian, who attained an extraordinary eight grade 9s. These results are a testament to the hard work, determination, and talent of our students, and we celebrate their success with pride.

At HATO we do not sit still. Across multiple subjects we have seen transformative progress, reflecting our unwavering belief in the potential of everyone. The percentage of students achieving top grades in triple science has more than doubled, while strong passes in combined science have risen by 15%. Maths results have strengthened with double the number of students securing grade 7 or higher and a 12% increase in pass rates. English outcomes continue to climb across all performance measures, with a third of students earning grade 7 or above in literature. In our languages, the percentage of strong passes has more than doubled, with notable increases in top grades. Sociology has seen a dramatic rise in attainment with 7+ grades increasing from 4% to 23%. These results showcase not only our students’ hard work but also the relentless dedication of our staff to provide the best educational opportunities for their students, and ensuring every child leaves with outstanding outcomes that they can be very proud of.
