Year 9 students are going bilingual!
This half term our Year 9 Spanish students have taken part in an exciting languages exchange website. The website, ‘Bili’, matches students with native speakers of the language they are learning and through communicating with them they help each other improve.
Our Year 9 students have had the opportunity to converse about topics they have recently studied in the classroom. Once they have completed their written task they are then given written feedback by their Spanish peers on how to improve it.
Students have enjoyed putting into practice the Spanish they have learnt as well as helping the Spanish students with their English.
Keishawna in Year 9 said, “Thanks to Bili I now feel more confident that I can talk to someone in another language.”
Tamara in Year 9 said, “It’s a great way to communicate with people from another country and help them with their English. I also like how interactive and authentic the experience is.”
Bili provides an excellent opportunity for our students to engage in conversations in the target language with peers of their own age. Our students have enjoyed using it so far and look forward to communicating further!
