Excellent Key Stage 5 Results 2023
We have celebrated a fantastic year of results at HATO today, with the best progress outcomes for the largest cohort to date.
Our Year 13 students have achieved excellently in our second season of mixed A level and vocational qualifications.
In History, Politics, and English Literature, students achieved outstanding results and surpassed the national average by a considerable margin. Psychology, Sociology, and Geography also delivered phenomenal results. This is testament to the extraordinary efforts of the students themselves and the staff who offered so much additional intervention in the final months running up to the exams.
2023 was the best set of A-Level results from a large cohort at HATO. The number of A*, A and B grades increased from the previous years, and the average grade increased to a C+. Despite a significant dip in national results as grade boundaries returned to their 2019 level, HATO students amazed us with their commitment and conscientious approach to their studies and secured their desired outcomes.
Of utmost importance is that each student has secured the grades needed to progress to their next steps: 87% of students are going on to university, full-time employment, or have secured an apprenticeship. The remaining students have deferred university entry to pursue travelling and/or work to gain further experience ahead of their final destinations.
We particularly celebrate some of our students whose endeavour has secured them places onto prestigious courses across Europe:
- Alek Miltchin who achieved two A*s and one A securing a place at Kings College London to read Physics;
- Shanon Chang who achieved 3 As and is going on to read Physics at the University of York;
- Julia Gasiorek who achieved an A*, A and B, and is going on to read History at Kings College London;
- Brave Omondi who achieved a double Distinction* and a Distinction*, securing a place at Coventry University to study Sports Management
