Year 10 Football Match against Gladesmore
Y10 Match Report:
HATO looked to build on an impressive start to the season in a game against local rivals Gladesmore on Thursday afternoon. A slow start from HATO almost proved costly as Gladesmore struck the post early on and dominated possession for the first 20 minutes. If it had not been for two excellent saves from Abdel then the away side would have conceded.
HATO looked dangerous on the break, on one occasion Bradley skipped past five or six players but time and time again the team were not clinical enough. The second half was a huge improvement with HATO starting on the front foot and dictating play. The team’s latest addition, Jahrel, looked comfortable on the ball and his tenacity was nearly rewarded when he chased down a loose ball between the goalkeeper and centre-back, his effort poked narrowly wide. The headlines could have been so different with Nakyai inches away from a stunning bicycle kick and Bradley’s half volley striking the crossbar.
A special mention goes to the HATO defence and Abdel who were excellent all game, especially Alexie who swept up every loose ball and won every tackle. However, the deadlock wasn’t to be broken and the points were shared. HATO’s first clean sheet of the season means they remain the only unbeaten team in the league and on course for a title challenge.
